“Vase into Object, Purpose into Design”

We all know someone who has fallen deeply in love with ceramics.

I personally fell hard four years ago. Ceramics changed my life and rapidly became a joy, a crutch, self-medication and a complete and utter obsession.

I take a sculptural approach to the craft and I do tend to look at my vases as aesthetic objects – more than a vessel for flowers – an object for your home, to bring you, hopefully, joy when you look at it.

Thank you for reading this far, and merci for your interest in my work.

FAQs

What “Beyaz” means?

‘Beyaz’ means ‘white’ in Turkish and is an homage to my father who was born in Bolu, Turkey. The majority of my ceramics are white but there is also a black collection name “Siyah”. And you’ll also notice that the piece titles are in french, also an homage to my Parisian roots.

What kind of clay is used?

A majority of my vases and objects are made with the Specked Stoneware 7 Clay by Keane; then a satin white glaze is applied to the inside.

The “siyah” black collection is made with Black Mid Fire clay by Keane and is usually glazed with a mate black glaze on the inside only.

Are the tablewares food safe?

All the tableware ceramics are coated with glazes that are food safe, impermeable to liquids, and non toxic. They are dishwasher friendly though it’s best to wash them by hand. They are also microwave safe.

How do I figure out the scale of the vases?

Each vase are put in categories: Petit (small) / Moyen (medium) / Grand (big) / Long (tall). That gives you a first idea of how the vase will present. Also, each vase has a size measure in cm inside the description.
